Owen Huppert

        My name is Owen Huppert and I am from Baltimore, Maryland. I attended the Gilman School for highschool, which is also in Baltimore. I used to play lacrosse and I now enjoy golfing with friends. I also enjoy watersports and being on the water in general during the summer, and I like to ski during the winter. In high school I was definitely most focussed on academics and making sure that I got good grades.

        At the University of Maryland I hope to be able to make new friends and prepare myself for various career options in the future. I joined the Media, Self and Society program because I want to be able inform myself of accurate and recent news. I consider this an important skill, as I often struggle to find unbiased and trustworthy information due to an abundance of inaccurate news reports. I also want to make sure that I am using social media correctly and usefully, as well as be able to inform others of how to do so. I think that this is very important because social media has such an immense impact on young people and can have an enormous influence on their lives.
