            Social media plays a pivotal role in the daily lives of adolescents across the United States. A survey revealed that 89 percent of US teenagers use various social media platforms either constantly or multiple times throughout each day. With the frequency of depression among teens and young adults on the rise, many people think that social media is responsible for this increase. If users are not careful, social media can cause or increase depression among users and even decrease their friendship closeness. However, there are many ways that social media can be a positive and useful tool. It is even possible to use social media to combat issues of depression, and there are ways to reduce other negative effects of social media. Moreover, social media has amazing potential, but if not used carefully it can be extremely harmful.
